According to the latest research, IQ accounts for what portion of career success?
A. 50 to 60 percent
B. 35 to 45 percent
C. 23 to 29 percent
D. 15 to 20 percent
E. Less than 10 percent
The answer may shock you.

The answer: between 4 and 10 percent. According to Daniel Goleman, IQ can influence the profession one enters. My IQ, for instance, is way too low for a career in astrophysics. But within a profession, IQ matters relatively little.

Remember what Don Johnson was like? Cool. That's how we're gonna be -- cool. Critical is fine, but if you're rude, we'll delete your stuff. Thanks for the comment Miguel. In your research, have you uncovered any learning modules / curriculum that are particularly useful to increasing your EI?
There are a number of different models associated with EI – each having their particular focus ( for example, ability vs. trait). Each model has their own approach to measuring EI as well so there are various ways to use them as learning tools. I find that the best place to start is the EI Consotium website (http://www.eiconsortium.org). They provide a number of theoretical as well practical resources for anyone interested in learning more and/or becoming certified in some of these measurement tools. Thanks!
Indeed, I'm a big fan of Daniel Goleman and emotional intelligence (EI). An upcoming article based on my dissertation in February will feature a lot of the benefits of EI.
